City of London Announces Initiative for Recycled Drinking Water - London, UK – June 4, 2024 – Amid rising water scarcity issues, London's Mayor, Sadiq Khan, has launched an important initiative promoting sustainability. By mid-2026, London will begin using recycled sewage water as a reliable drinking source. This change addresses the urgent need for sustainable water solutions driven by climate change. The city has created a dedicated website to help residents understand this transition, offering clear information and addressing common concerns about the new water supply system.

- Bioengineering: While innovative, it poses risks such as unintended environmental impacts if these organisms are released into the wild. There are also ethical concerns and international regulatory hurdles to consider.
